The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) held a meeting on Monday passed a resolution to become victorious in 2019 Lok Sabha polls under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ahead of Presidential elections, thirty-three affiliates of the ruling alliance met as a show of strength.
In this exercise of taking stock of the national political scene, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was visibly elevated and seated next to the BJP national president Amit Shah. The TDP supremo was given mike to deliver speech on behalf of NDA who affirmed that only under the leadership of Modi, double digit growth is possible. Also, the PM and CM stepped aside and seemingly had a brief discussion.
After the convention, Chandrababu Naidu and Arun Jaitely addressed the press meet, where in both the allies sang the same tune of “clean and corruption-free governance”. Furthermore, TDP chief was all praise for Modi and said that under the adept leadership of Modi, the country’s presence is being acknowledged at the global level.
Earlier in the day, Chandrababu met Amit Shah at his residence along with Union ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Sujana Chowdary. They requested him to expedite the amendment on increasing the number of Assembly seats in AP and TS. The duo seemingly discussed the importance of BJP-TDP alliance to ensure the YSR Congress fails in the up-coming elections. Chief Minister also reiterated the promise to give a Governor post under TDP quota.
This elevation of TDP supremo is definitely a cause of concern for the anti-chandrababu group in AP BJP, especially for leaders like Purandeswari, Somu Veerraju, Kanna Lakshminarayana. Also, it may be recalled that the opposition leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, recently visited Delhi and requested the leadership to take action on political defections, which ofcourse the government will not heed to. Jagan has been going easy on BJP while constantly targeting TDP. His motto of disrupting the alliance miserably failed. Infact, this meet only proves the difficulties ahead for the YCP leader whose shell companies were raided recently by the PM’s ED task force. It is apparent that in Telangana, BJP will likely contest against TRS while the meet reassured the strong ties of TDP-BJP whose division seems next to impossible
