Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who had been a strong proponent of ban on high denomination currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, has come out openly today that no solution is at sight to the crisis created by this move. Addressing Telugu Desam Party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and assembly constituency incharges meeting in Vijayawada, he indicated that the solution to be not in reach of any one.
Though he didn’t named Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the union government, by stating that no one is there to resolve the crisis he practically expressed his dissidence over the `inefficiency’ of the central government in meeting the crisis.
Deploring that even after 40 days there are still a lot of problems, he said he had faced several crisis but never faced such `clueless’ one. Though digital banking is a way out, he said there is no infrastructure for it and seems to be impossible at this hour.
He expressed apprehensions over the efficiency of banks in meeting the crisis. “Banks seems to be not effective and failing to supply currency notes. Though RBI has been making hectic efforts, hardly they can print Rs 4,000 crore currency notes per day. How many days it would take, he asked.
It may be recalled that he is heading a 13-member central committee to look into demonetisation issues. However, he seems has lost interest to function with the committee.
According to sources, he was shocked that no chief minister was present at the first meeting of the committee. There are five chief ministers as members of the committee, besides him. Even Maharasthra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was not present though the meeting was held at Mumbai.
Realising that Chief Minister, including two from BJP had avoided the meeting as the move turned to be `most unpopular’ one, Naidu also seems to be attempting to distance himself from the Modi’s move.
