Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly admonished union minister of state Y Sujana Chowdary, warning him to control his tongue. The TDP chief was also said to be accused him that his `loose words’ only led to heating up tempers in Visakhapatnam, which had witnessed `curfew like’ situation on the Republic Day with youth and students strongly registered their protest on the issue of Special Category Status.
It may be recalled that taking inspiration from Tamil Nadu youth’s success in mending the state and central governments on the issue of Jallikattu sport with their silent protest in Marina Beach, had given call for similar protest at Visakhapatnam Beach on January 26, through social media.
Initially the response was not so wide and the police responding tactfully succeeded in checking them. But emotions reached to peak believed to be after a provocative statement from the union minister Sujana Chowdary. Earlier, his words like Special category status was a `closed chapter’ and `invalid note’ were received well by the people.
However, his advice to youth, who were resorting to silent protest at Visakhapatnam beach, “if you are inspired by jallikattu protests, play betting with “pigs and chickens” spread like wildfire.
Immediately Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan responded on Twitter targeting Sujana Chowdary and TDP MP Rayapati sambasiva Rao. It has given a chance for the Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to swing into action, transforming it into a political battle and landed in Visakhapatnam.
Sensing that the situation turning to be out of control, Chief Minister had himself swing into action advising the police to be more restraint against protesters. On the next day, when Sujana Chowdary met him at the Partnership Summit, TDP sources said that Naidu has taken a `class’ to him.
Stressing the need to use `polite’ language in the public life, Chief Minister reportedly accused that his unmindful provocative words only led to spread of protests to several places of the state. However, Chief Minister is said to be satisfied as the police succeeded in restoring normalcy within two days by acting tactfully.
