Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today launched a unique health scheme `Health for All’ naming as `Arogya Raksha’ to ensure health for all. A family can avail of the scheme securing health insurance of Rs 2 lakh by paying Rs 100 premium per head.
According to the Chief Minister Andhra Pradesh will be the first state to implement such a scheme. The World Health Organisation, Bill Gates Foundation and other noted health organizations are involved in the scheme. He promised that best global health insurance practices will be introduced.
Officials have been asked to complete premium collection and enrolment within two months, by the end of February to launch the scheme that is estimated to cost Rs 160.56 crore. They said necessary allocations for the scheme would be sanctioned in the next budget.
Speaking on this occasion, Chandrababu Naidu said that besides creation wealth, ensuring good health to all people is also on the priority of the government. He said that both wealth and health plays significance role in the development, he said. To achieve his government’s ambitious target of making the state as the third best developed state in the country by 2020 and first best developed state by 2050, he said health
The Chief Minister also launched Swasta Vidya Vahini at 222 places to provide nutritious food to students in the state on December 24. He called the two schemes a New Year gift. Four crore people separately get free medical services in the state under NTR Vidya Seva while 16.13 lakh government employees have access to free health services.
