Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has strongly refuted opposition’s call seeking a movement against the Centre seeking Special Category Status on the lines of Tamils stir on Jallikattu. He took severe exception for comparing issue of Special Status with that of Jallikattu uproar.
He ridiculed the opposition parties while appreciations over Tamils massive protests on Jallikattu sport demanding him to learn lesson from them for achieving Special Status. He wondered what is the need for such a movement in the state here.
He asserted that Special Status is no more relevant after the Centre announced a special financial package and assured to extend all benefits that will be secured through Special Status.
Making it clear that he is not ready to fight against the Centre on any issue, he said that the state government is sailing with the Centre in the best interests of Andhra Pradesh and its people.
He found fault with the proposed protest by opposition parties at Visakhapatnam beach on January 26 and urged them not to ruin the Port City’s reputation. On this occasion, he also appealed the the youth not to participate in such protests.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has welcomed Visakhapatnam youth initiative to take up silent protest at Visakhapatnam beach on January 26 seeking Special Status for the state. He called upon the youth to come forward, support and make this protest a big success.
He appealed to party workers and youth of the state to organise candle lights demonstration at all districts centres on January 26 at 6 pm. He appealed students and youth to come forward and extend support for this agitation in a democratic and peaceful way.
