A question in recently held Telangana Group 2 examination was “The ‘Vision 2020 document’ commissioned by Chandrababu Naidu Government in the undivided A.P. was prepared by which consultancy?”. Despite bifurcation of the state, the fondness of Chandrababu Naidu to get foreign assistance will always be remembered. He is hoping to get foreign aid for different development works, which would form part of the daunting task of making a dream capital. The Chief Minister roped in Singapore for the Amaravati Capital construction and also entered into some agreements for different projects with Japan. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is in Davos and is trying to woo investors at the World Economic Forum.
Naidu’s most preferred consultancy McKinsey promised to facilitate Chinese investments in Andhra Pradesh. The firm would take the responsibility of networking 20 most important companies and investors from China. In another meeting, MasterCard President Anne Cairns assured that she would share all the best practices from around the world in implementing the digital payments system in Andhra Pradesh. The CM insisted to open a master card technology center in Fintech at Vishakapatnam. Carins said that she would discuss the matter with the Asia operations head and work out the proposal.
Naidu’s efforts are commendable when it comes to attending these foreign conferences and making a way for investors to come to Andhra Pradesh. His love for foreign investment has outgrown the love for domestic aid. While he is busy convincing Microsoft, Master card and Who’s Who of the world, Naidu failed to realize the Vishakapatnam Railway Zone. This Zone is said to be the backbone for the financial development of Northern Andhra. Ironically, the CM on pretext of getting Railway assistance supported Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu to the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.
It is weird that Naidu is not questioning Union government but is just accepting the allocations. There was hardly any instance in the 2.5years tenure where the TDP leader pressurized the center. Since Naidu, needs hassle-free clearances for these mega projects from the central government, he compromised on the special category status and now Vishaka Railway Zone. Perhaps Naidu is well aware that as long as he gave the foreign investors what they wanted, he would receive the money unlike the central government which would raise objections for everything.
