Vijayawada: Differences in the proposed land usage in the draft master plan and final master plan of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Amaravati sprang a surprise for people in the Capital City Region. Earlier, the government proposed 8,060 hectares for housing, 1,300 hectares for civic amenities, 7,745 hectares for industrial usage and 9,860 hectares for parks and free spaces in Amaravati. However, several changes were found in the Draft Detailed Master Plan of Amaravati released late on Saturday night by the APCRDA. In the newly released Draft Detailed Master Plan of Amaravati, 6,190 hectares were proposed for housing, 3,385 hectares for industrial and commercial spaces, 1,950 hectares for civic amenities and 6,390 hectares for parks and open spaces. While 650 hectares have been increased for civic amenities in the final Draft Detailed Master Plan, nearly 3,470 hectares have been reduced in the case of parks and open spaces. Given these change incorporated in the final plan, the number of 18 integrated townships proposed in the earlier draft plan are also expected to come down.
