Vishwambhara, the much-anticipated socio-fantasy film, was initially scheduled for release in January 2025, coinciding with the Sankranti festival. However, the makers recently announced a postponement, stating that the delay was to accommodate the release of Ram Charan and Shankar’s magnum opus, Game Changer. While this reason seems plausible, rumors suggest it may not be the whole truth. If Game Changer was the only reason, the filmmakers would have likely announced a new release date for Vishwambhara. The actual reason for the delay reportedly lies elsewhere.
VFX Troubles Behind the Delay?
Insiders claim the real cause for the delay is the unsatisfactory output from the VFX team. The production unit is reportedly unhappy with the visual effects and has decided to address these issues before releasing the film. This is no small matter for a movie of this scale, as a significant portion of its storytelling relies on high-quality visual effects.
Director Vassishta’s Different Opinion
Interestingly, the film’s director, Vassishta, is said to disagree with the decision. He believes that the VFX output is adequate given the project’s budget constraints. Vassishta is confident that the film’s emotional core will resonate with audiences, even if the graphics aren’t as polished. His resistance to the idea of reworking the VFX has reportedly caused some tension behind the scenes.
VV Vinayak’s Connection to Vassishta and Vishwambhara
Amid these challenges, rumors have surfaced suggesting that Chiranjeevi has stepped in to ensure the smooth completion of the project. The megastar recently met with director VV Vinayak, with whom he shares a strong rapport. Vinayak previously directed blockbusters like Tagore and Khaidi No. 150, both starring Chiranjeevi. Moreover, Vinayak recently visited the Vishwambhara set, further fueling speculation about his involvement.
VV Vinayak has a long-standing connection with director Vassishta, who regards him as a mentor or “guru.” Although Vassishta never officially worked under Vinayak, their relationship dates back to Vassishta’s childhood, when Vinayak directed Bunny, which was produced by Vassishta’s father, Mallidi Satyanarayana. Chiranjeevi is reportedly leveraging this connection, asking Vinayak to guide Vassishta through the next phase of production, particularly in fixing the VFX issues. It is also rumored that Chiranjeevi sought Vinayak’s input on Vassishta before choosing him to direct the project.
Vinayak’s Role as a Saviour
This isn’t the first time Vinayak has stepped in to assist Chiranjeevi. During the production of Stalin, he helped when director A.R. Murugadoss was unavailable to shoot certain scenes, particularly the climax. Given his experience handling VFX-heavy films like Badrinath, Vinayak is well-suited to help resolve the current technical challenges. Vassishta, given his rapport with Vinayak, is expected to accept his guidance without hesitation.
New Release Date on the Horizon
The Vishwambhara team is now aiming for a release on May 9, a significant date in Chiranjeevi’s career. Many of his blockbuster films, including the socio-fantasy classic Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, were released on this day and went on to become industry hits. With Vinayak’s guidance and Chiranjeevi’s involvement, fans are hopeful that Vishwambhara will meet the high expectations and become another milestone in Chiranjeevi’s illustrious career.
