Clear signals are coming out from Kirlampudi that Mudragada Padmanabham, Kapu leader on fast, in all likelihood will call off the fast this afternoon. Chief minister Naidu’s special team consisting of Kala Venkatarao (AP TDP president), minister Atchannaidu, MLA Thota Trimurthulu have conveyed the CM’s message to Mudragada. The talks are still going on. They are expected to make a joint statement in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, former union ministers K Chiranjeevi, MM Pallam Raju, Dasari Narayana Rao, APCC president N Raghuvira Reddy, opposition leader in AP Council C Ramachandraiah and former state minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar have been detained at Rajahnundry airport and taken to a hotel. They were on their way to Kirlampudi to express solidarity to Mudragada Padmanabha. Talking to media, Dasari Narayana Rao said he was detained at the airport as if he was a terrorist from Pak. Stating that Mudragada was his friend Dasari wondered how could the police stop him from going to meet his friend and inquire about his health. Meanwhile, Congress workers staged dharna outside airport protest the arrest of their leaders and detaining them in a hotel.
They police, however said, too much crowd at Kirlampudu may lead to the repetition of Tuni violence.
Government has kept ready doctors at Mudragada’s residence to start treatment immediately after the calling off the fast. Doctors said depending upon the state of health, the Kapu leader may require some treatment.” But, he looks healthy. Mudragada needs some rest . Except BP everything is stable,” doctors said.
