After swearing-in, AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy put his first signature on the file for Rs 2,250 old age pensioners from June itself. This monthly amount would be increased by Rs 250 every year till it reaches Rs 3,000. These pensions would be delivered to the doorstep of beneficiaries by duly appointed volunteers.
Jagan said that one service volunteer would be appointed per 50 households in every village. Nearly 4 lakh volunteer jobs would be created in the state. There would be no inconvenience or interference like the beneficiaries faced in the hands of the Janmabhoomi Committees.
Jagan made sarcastic remarks on the previous TDP government saying small amounts were given to pensioners till the last two years of elections. He asserted that he would strictly implement the Navaratnalu programme to benefit all sections of people regardless of their political affiliations. Jagan said that his party prepared a small manifesto to show its clarity and commitment while the TDP made elaborate manifesto only to confuse people.
