Telangana Chief Minister CM Revanth Reddy showered sops on Padmashalis, one of the notable communities among BCs. He announced loan waiver up to Rs 1 lakh for handloom weavers on Sunday, speaking at the All India Padmashali Mahasabha in Hyderabad.
“Congress Govt is giving as much priority to handloom weavers and Padmashalis as much as it is giving to farmers. Congress Government has waived off farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh. Similarly we are waiving off handloom weavers loans up to Rs 1 lakh,” announced CM Revanth Reddy as the audience present in the meeting cheered.
All the loans taken by handloom weavers between 1st April, 2017 and 31st March, 2024 will be waived off.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy explained how Congress Govt is committed to Padmashalis welfare and taken up Caste Census, to benefit BCs.
“It is because of your support I’m CM today. Therefore I’m always thinking about how to benefit you and empower you. All my efforts are aimed at bringing up and strengthening downtrodden sections. That’s why we have conducted Caste Census, inspite of several difficulties. Soon you will get your rightful share in all areas,” said Revanth Reddy appealing to Padmashalis.
Remembering Konda Laskhman Bapuji on the occasion, Revanth Reddy announced that Asifabad Medical College will be named after late leader, who made many sacrifices for Telangana. Already Telangana Government has named Textiles University after Konda Lakshmana Bapuji, as a mark of respect towards him.
Revanth Reddy Sarkar has also taken the decision to distribute two sarees each to members of women Self Help Groups, creating a demand for about 1.30 Cr sarees per year, to ensure livelihood for handloom weavers.
