The CEO and technical head of BookMyShow have been summoned by Mumbai Police for allegedly facilitating the black market sale of tickets for Coldplay’s upcoming concerts in Navi Mumbai. The police have initiated an investigation based on a complaint filed by an advocate, who claimed that the concert tickets, originally priced at Rs 2,500, are being resold by third parties and influencers for up to Rs 3 lakh. The advocate alleged that BookMyShow deceived the public and Coldplay fans, and is seeking a fraud case against the company. The police have already recorded the advocate’s statement and have identified several brokers involved in the alleged ticket scalping.
The Coldplay India concert tickets were reportedly sold out quickly online, leaving many genuine fans disappointed. It appears there may be a group involved in illegally reselling the tickets, taking advantage of the enthusiasm of young fans willing to spend large sums of their parents’ money to attend the event. The Shiv Sena spokesperson requested the Maharashtra Chief Minister to investigate the matter and take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents. A member of the ruling BJP party also accused the concert organizers of being involved in the black market sale of tickets. Additionally, the ticket booking platform BookMyShow crashed when the sale for Coldplay’s Mumbai concert began on September 22. The British rock band is returning to India after an eight-year absence and has added a third show to their “Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025” in Mumbai.
