AP CM Chandrababu Naidu went ahead with his visit to the Polavaram lifeline irrigation project. The Election Commission has not given permission to his visit nor has it given any other clarification from its side. Considering the existing tensions, the Collectors of both West and East Godavari districts didn’t attend the CM visit. Even the irrigation secretary Sasibhushan stayed away from it. The top officials took care not to earn the wrath of the Election Commission because of prevailing stand-off.
Irrigation Engineer-in-Chief Venkateswara Rao and Polavaram Chief Engineer Sridhar were present in the CM visit. Naidu enquired about the progress of works at the coffer dam. Scores of TDP leaders were present. The ruling party leaders are questioning how Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao is allowed to undertake an official visit to Kerala. The Election Commission is biased and it’s discriminating against the TDP, they deplored.
