BJP senior leaders in the Telangana State, who were discontented with their MLAs growing proximity with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, seemingly complained to the party chief Amit Shah at the two-day party’s National Executive meeting which concluded last evening in New Delhi.
Sensing the need for re-orientation of the party strategies in the state, Amit Shah has decided to tour the state for three days soon. Meanwhile, BJP state executive committee meeting scheduled to be held in Bhadrachalam on January 21 and 22 is likely to formulate party’s programme to agitate against KCR’s regime.
BJP is having five MLAs and one MLC in the state, all based in Hyderabad. While party state Chief Dr K Lakshman, who is also an MLA, is seen frequently blasting KCR’s failures in implementing poll promises; the remaining legislators seems to be indifferent. Every one was surprised with its legislative party leader G Kishan Reddy’s ‘advisory role’ to the ruling party in the winter session of the assembly and also ‘friendly’ tads by its lone MLC N Ramachandra Rao in the council.
This issue had earlier rocked the state party’s core committee meeting, where both Kishan Reddy and Ramachandra Rao strongly justified their passive role stating that it is needed in view of KCR’s out-right support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move.
A former MLA of the party said that party’s central leadership is having a clear strategy in keeping KCR calm, thus preventing him from joining opposition’s protests in New Delhi. However, he said that the central party had never directed the state party to avoid exposing KCR’s failures.
Moreover, Amit Shah during his visits to the state on three occasions, had himself blasted KCR’s failure in extending centre’s welfare programmes to farmers and other sections in the state.
