Hyderabad: With losing its ninth MLA out of 19 in Telangana, Congress party seems to be pinning hopes on Priyanka Gandhi to revive its prospects in the country’s youngest state. Moreover, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is said to have finalised few names from the Tollywood to attract crowds to meetings and roadshows. Further, TPCC has requested All India Congress Committee (AICC) for sending Priyanka Gandhi to care of poll campaign as several senior leaders are struggling to make a positive impact on voters.
It may be recalled that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi addressed at public meetings during Assembly elections held in December 2018, but couldn’t help the grand-old party win reasonable number of seats.
TPCC chief N Uttamkumar Reddy, Campaign Committee chairperson Vijayashanti and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are engaged in Lok Sabha election campaigning in Telangana. The TPCC is also roping in few more cine stars as well.
Congress leaders have decided to highlight the choice between Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi. Congress has been saying that the main fight between Congress and BJP only. “Local factors may not influence Lok Sabha elections. So, we’re confident that Telangana voters will cast their votes to Congress party only as Rahul Gandhi has been projected a better alternative to Narendra Modi,” said Uttamkumar Reddy.
