After Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has categorically turned down the Congress party’s demand for a CBI probe in slain gangster Nayeem encounter case, Congress leaders are now considering to file Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court. Legislature Party Deputy Leader B Jeevan Reddy and former MLA D K Bharath Simha Reddy are said to be ready to file the PIL. Another PIL would be filed an US-based Congress leader.
Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that the State police was efficiently dealing with the case and there was no need for a CBI inquiry. He refuted the Opposition charges that the TRS government was saving those involved in the case.
He alleged that Nayeem had committed those crime during the Congress rule and it was unfortunate that the Congress was blaming the TRS government for the misdeeds of Nayeem. The Chief Minister said that he had directed the state police not to spare anyone related to Nayeem case and deal those guilty sternly.
However, Jeevan Reddy accused the government of protecting those involved in the Nayeem case. He said that the slain gangster was involved in hundreds of cases but the government failed to act against those who had links with the slain gangster. As the crimes were related to four to five states and he was also believed to be having links with Pakistan-based terror groups, Reddy felt it would not be possible for the state police to ensure a fair probe.
Accusing that state government is making `selective leaks’ from Nayeem’s dairy, he also demanded to place Nayeem’s dairy, pen drive, digital records, crucial documents and photos before the court. Otherwise, he urged to place those details before the opposition leaders in the presence of Assembly Speaker.
Congress leaders are suspecting that the state government may make use of documents seized from Nayeem’s hideouts to victimise opposition leaders, particularly Congress leaders. They also suspecting that the government is most likely to reveal complete details of assets seized in this regard. They are mainly suspecting as till now no attempt is being made by the SIT formed in this regard to investigation against senior police officials, who were allegedly associated with Nayeem.
