Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday alleged that the Congress had split his family for political gains. Speaking at Tirupati on the day, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that splitting families has become a habit for the Congress.
He said that the party had split his family earlier by making his uncle Vivekananda Reddy a minister in the state cabinet. The party also made Vivekananda Reddy to contest against the family members, he said. The party had now split his family and appointed Y S Sharmila, his sister, as the AP Congress president. The party was now trying to get political benefit out of this split, he said.
He said that the YSR Congress would come back to power in the state in the forthcoming general elections. People who have been receiving the financial benefits from his government for the past five years would vote for his party in the coming election.
He said that his government had improved health, education and administration in the state and made life easy for the people. The reforms in health and education sectors have benefited a lot for the people, he asserted. He also asserted that the reforms in administration in the name of village and ward secretariats have helped the people to get things done from the government.
He said that his critics were finding fault with him for introducing English medium in the government schools. He wanted to know what medium that the children and grandchildren of his critics were studying. “Are they not studying English medium,” Jagan Mohan Reddy asked.
He said that the opposition parties have said that the state had become worse than Sri Lanka with the cash benefit transfer programmes of the state government. Now they are not speaking about Sri Lank and the state economy. On the other hand, the opposition parties were making more promises of more welfare schemes, he said.
