This summer in Tollywood started off with a bang and films like Majili, Chitralahari, Jersey and Kanchana 3 raked decent revenues. After months, several theatres witnessed full boards and packed houses. Some of the films like iSmart Shankar, Gopichand’s film, Rajasekhar’s Kalki, Vijay Devarakonda’s Dear Comrade and Sharwanand’s untitled film are announced for summer. But somehow, all the above movies are missing the summer battle and the release dates will be announced soon.
With ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 starting this May 30th, no filmmakers are showing interest to release their films this June. Vijay Devarakonda who is racing to the top is quite confident on Dear Comrade but he wished not to take a risk by releasing the film in June. All the makers of the above-mentioned films are expected to release during July. With World Cup matches starting from 3 PM (Indian Time), it would be a great loss for collections and the releases are pushed to the mid of July.
The cricket fever this time will have an impact on Telugu cinema during June. Some of the small budget films will test their luck during June as they will get ample number of screens in the month.
