Chief minister Chandrababa Naidu finally set a clear-cut deadline to shift the Andhra Pradesh administration from Hyderabad to Vijayawada– by June 2016.
All the previous announcements lacked clarity as the they were not associated with any plan of action. Due to lack of space for offices and residential accommodation, earlier deadlines went unmet.
Now, CM announced that government wants to construct about 6 lakh sft space and take up the shifting of administration. He said by June the construction of building would be over and secretariat would be shifted to Vijayawada.
In fact the shifting of administrative unit from Hyderabad to Vijayawada remained jinxed for about 12 months. First it was said by Dasara capital would shifted. Later Sankranthi became deadline and after that Ugadi. No deadline could be met because of space problem.
“Development will be hampered if the CM stays at one place and the administration functions from another location. Without shifting development is not possible,” the CM told officials.
With government deciding to go in for the construction of permanent structures instead relying on private buildings, one can believe that what Naidu stating has conviction. Now, we have to see the reaction from the employees of state government and senior officials. Both are not so enthusiastic to switch over to Vijayawada. They are all in favor of staying put in Hyderabad for ten years as permitted by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.2014.
Addressing officials in the district in a video conference in Vijayawada Saturday, the CM announced that the next phase of Janmabhumi would be conducted with the aim of curbing the call-money menace. In the light recent controversy over the call-money cum sex racket, the CM included the issue as important item to be discussed with people, especially with women folk, during Janmabhumi interactions. The program will start from January 11, 2016. Naidu wants to involve entire administration in debunking the Opposition branding the Call-Money practice as Sex Racket. In stead of addressing press conferences and statement, Naidu has chosen the Janmabhumi program, which touches every household in rural Andhra Pradesh.
The program would be organized with the objective of bringing down the infant mortality, achieving zero drop-out rate in the schools, 100 per cent institutional deliveries, Afforestation, growing the village nurseries and establishing the grievance cell in Panchayats etc.
He called upon the official to work with a singular focus of developing ” New Andhra Pradesh”. He said ” Our Aim is to Reconstruct New Andhra Pradesh” should be guiding light for the state administration.
Another important decision he announced to inspire the Telugu people culturally is to celebrate the Sankranti in every village in a spectacular way. He asked the officials to organize food festivals in a big as part the of Sankranti celebration. This is Andhra CM’s response to the celebration local festivals such as Bonalu, Sammakkaa Sarakka festival as state festivals in Telangana. Through governmental participation in these festivals, T-CM K Chandrasekhar Rao plans to sustain the Telangana sentiment generated during T-movement. Naidu’s objective is to generate a sense of ‘oneness ‘ among the three regions of people – Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra, North Andhra- of Andhra Pradesh.
