Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty will soon be honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the news and he posted “Mithun Da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema”. The 74-year-old actor will be felicitated with Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony that will take place on October 8th, 2024.
Mithun Chakraborty’s son and actor Namashi Chakraborty shared his experience saying “Feeling extremely proud and honoured. My father is a self-made superstar and a great citizen. His life journey is an inspiration for millions. We are all feeling elated for this magnificent honour”. Mithun Chakraborty was honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in the past. Mithun Chakraborty started his career in 1976 with Mrigayaa and he was one of the top actors of Indian cinema during the 80s and the 90s. Disco Dancer, Dance Dance, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, and Commando are some of the successful films of Mithun Chakraborty.
