Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the tonsure of Dalit youth Vara Prasad at Seethanagaram in East Godavari district.
“Jungle Raj has returned to AP. Vara Prasad’s head was tonsured by leaders belonging to YCP in East Godavari District’s Seethanagaram Police Station”, said Mr. Naidu in a scathing attack on the Jaganmohan Reddy government in the State.
The TDP chief said that all this tonsure incident happened in the presence of policemen who heckled and beat the man to pulp and thus destroying the self-esteem of a Dalit man. “His only mistake was to question the illegal sand mining in the region. What is happening to AP policemen? Why have they become toys in the hands of the corrupt ruling party men? This is a serious violation of rights.”
In his post on Twitter, Mr. Naidu assured that the Telugu Desam Party will stand with Vara Prasad and make sure those responsible for this barbarian act be strictly punished.
It may be recalled the TDP has been attacking the ruling YSRCP on the atrocities against different sections in general and Dalits in particular. On the issue of arrest of Dalit doctors Dr Sudhakar and Dr Anita Rani, the Opposition party waged a non-stop battle. Mr. Naidu has also condemned the false cases and arrests of ex MP Harsha Kumar, Mahasena leader Rajesh and others.
