Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagendar raised the issue of demolition of houses of poor and middle class families in Hyderabad on Sunday, urging Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to reconsider the decision. At a time, when people in Hyderabad are terrorised and Opposition parties leaders are using demolitions to attack Congress Government, Danam Nagendar braved to hold a press conference, making a public appeal to CM Revanth Reddy.
Inspite of widespread public outcry, Congress leaders have been blindly defending demolitions by HYDRA, to appease CM Revanth Reddy. But proving that he is different from the pack, daring Danam Nagendar, came out in open, saying that demolitions by HYDRA are bringing bad name to Congress Government and CM Revanth Reddy personally.
“People are seriously worried about demolitions by HYDRA. Last night about 500 to 600 people came to me, urging to stop the demolitions of their houses. These are all genuine people, who bought the land and homes and staying there for more than 20 years. Demolishing their homes saying that they are in FTL limits or buffer zone today is completely inhuman and unacceptable,” said Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagendar speaking to media persons on Sunday.
“I had already warned HYDRA not to touch homes of poor and middle class. But everyone blamed me then, saying that I have done Kabza by putting poor people in the front. See what’s happening now,” further said Danam Nagendar.
“Owning a home is the life time dream and ambition of poor and middle class families. If HYDRA goes and demolishes a home, which they have built with lifetime earnings, will they tolerate? Congress Government and CM Revanth Reddy are getting bad name due to demolitions. As I’m concerned about Government’s reputation and personally about Revanth Reddy, I’m urging him to reconsider the decision to demolish houses,” appealed senior leader Nagendar.
Danam Nagendar suggested, officials should first do counseling of the families and show alternative, wherever there is a need for demolition of houses, which are on the banks of Musi, instead of terrorising people with notices and bulldozers.
Danam Nagendar, who has a good control over Greater Hyderabad, pled CM Revanth Reddy to stop demolitions, hinting that the anger of victims is giving an opportunity to Opposition parties BRS and BJP to damage ruling Congress.
