With its unbelievable performance at China box office, Dangal is shrinking the gap between its worldwide gross and that of ‘Baahubali 2’ at jet speed. As of now, Dangal is lagging behind the SS Rajamouli directorial by only around 40 crore. Going by the amount of moolah the Aamir Khan starrer is raking in China with each passing day, the wrestling drama will overpower ‘Baahubali 2’ in a day or two at the most.
Released in four languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam across the world, Baahubali 2 collected Rs 1538 crore gross (1256 crore form India and the rest 282 crore from overseas) since its release on April 28.
On the other hand, by collecting an unprecedented $112 million (721 crore) in the 17 days since its release in China alone, Dangal took its worldwide cumulative to Rs 1501 crore. If we leave Chinese collections of Dangal, it has collected only Rs 745 crore from rest of the world including India. This figure is less than even half of Baahubali 2’s worldwide gross.
In the end, the worldwide gross is the only thing that matters to movie buffs and Dangal is all set to beat ‘Baahubali 2’ at most by Tuesday. Baahubali 2 will no more be the ‘No.1 Indian blockbuster’ unless it performs well in China when the film hits screens there in a few months.
