Director SS Rajamouli will become the first mainstream commercial filmmaker in India to direct a virtual reality experience.

This rare feat will obviously be for Baahubali and Rajamouli is going into uncharted territory here. Virtual Reality or VR is still a very nascent area that will take a few years to go mainstream.

But with Baahubali set for a 2017 release, Rajamouli is betting on a more widespread acceptance of the VR technology by that time.

Directing a VR experience is unlike anything Rajamouli has ever done before. While Eega seems to have given Rajamouli valuable lessons on virtual simulation, this is an all new ballgame.

Rajamouli and his team will be assisted by AMD, the chip manufacturer, in this endeavour.
