A bunch of films released on the occasion of Dasara and most of the films hardly made an impact. The biggest shocker of the season is Sudheer Babu’s Ma Nanna Superhero. Though the trailer looked promising, the film was badly rejected by the audience. The shows across the Telugu states got canceled as there were no minimum audience in theatres. Srinu Vaitla delivered his fifth flop in a row with Viswam. The film managed to make decent money on Friday and Saturday but it is quite tough to reach the breakeven mark. Gopichand had high hopes on the film but the regular commercial caper was rejected.
Dil Raju has promoted his film Janaka Aithe Ganaka big time. He conducted several events and screened the film for various sets of audience. But the film failed to report decent openings. Suhas has been keen to score a solid theatrical hit and he thought that Janaka Aithe Ganaka is the right one. But the film was rejected badly by the audience. The film will recover the digital expenses spent. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan got a wide release and the film too hardly made an impact. Despite featuring actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati and Fahadh Faasil, the audience were not much interested to watch the film during the festival time. The holiday season proved that the audience are not ready to rush to the theatres if there is no proper film available. Some of the audience have decided to watch the films on OTT platforms instead of rushing to theatres.
Devara happened to be the first choice for the audience during the holiday season. The Monday numbers for all the films are pathetic and they will struggle to complete the first week run in theatres. Like several holiday seasons this year, Dasara season is also successfully wasted. This is also a lesson for filmmakers who are in a rush to make regular films.
