YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy meets film director turned politician and former union minister Dasari Narayana Rao at his residence in Hyderabad on Tuesday and extended invitation to join the party. Dasari showered praises on the YSRCP chief calling him as a good leader, and with his support, he would become a prominent and greater leaders in future. However, party sources say that invitation to Dasari was made against the backdrop of party’s decision to rope in more BC and Kapu leaders into the party.
Hyderabad: Giving credence to the rumors doing the rounds for quite sometime decks seems to have been cleared for prominent film director and Former Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao to join in YSRCP party. It was to bring the former director turned politician Dasari into the party that the YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has gone to Dasari Narayana Rao’s house on Tuesday. According to the party sources, both the leaders had a one to one discussions on the current political scenario in the state and Jagan Mohan Reddy has formally extended the invitation to Dasari to join the party and guide with his experience, for which the former union minister had learnt to have responded positively. However, the Jangan Mohan Reddy’s initiative has come against the backdrop of his plans to consolidate the party in the state to take on the ruling TDP.
A senior YSRCP leader said, “the party wanted to rope in BC’s and Kapu’s into its fold. Because, as of now it is seen only favoring only one community. As number-wise BC’s and Kapu’s are more in number, it was decided to give a greater role to both the sections to strengthen the party,” he added.
Further, efforts were made to bring several prominent leaders from the Kapu’s who were closer to the former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy during his tenure. “Most of these leaders were in Congress till the bifurcation of the state. Now, as the Congress has lost its ground in the state they have been looking to join in other parties. Senior party leaders like Jyothula Nehru and others were fielded to rope in them into the party. However, these efforts were not met with success so far,” said a YSRCP MLA from However, YSRCP seems not very attractive as of now given the current political scenario in the state,” he added.
It was part of bringing Kapu’s and BC’s into the party fold that Jagan Mohan Reddy had admitted Botsa Satyanarayana, a former PCC president in the united AP. Now, efforts are on to invite former MP and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham into the party fold. In the line of these efforts that Jagan Mohan Reddy has gone to Dasari’s house to personally meet and invite him into the party.
After the meeting, Dasari Narayana Rao said that Jagan has already made himself a prominent leader and he is sure to become a great leader in future. The YSRCP leadership is hoping that it may get some more Kapu and BC leaders from the Congress fold into the party, after the joining of Dasari.
