AP CM Chandrababu Naidu announced that Deepam scheme, which offers free gas cylinders to households, will be launched on Oct 31. The free cylinders scheme is being launched as a Deepawali gift for women by Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP-BJP-Janasena alliance Government.
The promise of three gas cylinders for eligible households in AP, is one of the super six promises, given by TDP-led alliance during Assembly elections. Now Government has come up with the action plan to implement the same, bringing smiles on Telugu women’s faces.
CM Chandrababu Naidu held an elaborate meeting with Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, senior officials of Civil Supplies Department, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum (BP) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP) in Secretariat, Amaravati on Monday.
“We are committed to implement all the poll promises and implementation of Deepam scheme is one more step in that direction. We have chosen the auspicious occasion of Deepavali for launching Deepam scheme. We will provide three gas cylinders per year for every eligible household in AP. We are going forward with implementing free gas cylinders promise, inspite of financial constraints. This new initiative will help ease financial burden on low and middle income fanilies,” said CM Chandrababu Naidu explaining about Government’s motto.
While Deepam scheme will be launched on Oct 31, eligible beneficiaries can start booking from Oct 24 onwards.
Right now price of domestic LPG cylinder is Rs 876. After Central Government’s subsidy of Rs 25, consumers are paying Rs 851 per cylinder. Going by this price estimates, Andhra Pradesh Government will incur about Rs 2,684 Cr per year to implement Deepam free gas cylinders scheme.
