With the polling of the highly anticipated Delhi assembly elections came to a close, the exit poll results have been revealed by different agencies and psephologists just a while ago and the predictions point a landslide victory for the formidable Bharatiya Janata Party which is likely to claim the throne of Chief Minister after nearly 27 years.
Most of the exit polls predicted that BJP will decimate the ruling AAP party which unsettled the long standing political equations in the national capital with a stupendous victory in 2015 and 2020. Six out of the seven surveys stated that Arvind Kejriwal’s party is likely to suffer humiliation in the backdrop of corruption allegations with these polls.
While People’s Pulse predicted a landslide majority for the BJP with 51-60 seats, Chanakya Strategies predicted that the party would win 39-44 seats. P-Marq has given 49-31 seats to BJP and 21-31 to AAP. Surprisingly, Matrize is the only exit poll which stated that it is going to be a closely fought contest as it predicted 35-40 seats for BJP and 32-37 seats for AAP. The Congress party has no surprises in store as most of these analysts predicted only single meagre number of seats.
The BJP has centered its election campaign entirely on the ongoing corruption allegations against AAP leaders and other key issues which helped them gain an edge in the poll battle. If these predictions turn out to be true, BJP will return to power for the first time after 1998 this year. The results will be out on February 8th.
