AP DGP Gowtham Sawang rushed to Kadapa district to personally see what is wrong with the investigation into the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case. It is 100 days since Jagan came to power but the police could not solve the murder mystery till now. An angry Sawang asked the Kadapa police and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) why they could not conclude the case even after questioning 1,500 persons and examining over 3,000 telephone call lists. Why are the local police not able to file chargesheet and name the accused persons responsible for the murder?
The DGP took it as a personal challenge and decided to stay there in Kadapa for over two days to get total clarity. He even visited the murder scene to get an assessment for himself. Sawang is clearly under tremendous pressure as the murder case is increasingly taking a political twist. Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu has mockingly asked how Jaganmohan Reddy can protect 5 crore Andhra people when his government could not solve his own uncle’s murder mystery.
The DGP has taken serious note of the Kadapa police on Srinivasa Reddy’s death also which is registered as a suspicious case. He asked the investigating teams why they did not keep close watch on Srinivasa Reddy when he was one of the main suspects along with Parameshwar Reddy. The Viveka case is indeed giving a tough time to both AP Police and the government.
