Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy expressed apprehension that chief minister Chandrabababu Naidu was trying to dilute the case of call-money-cum-sex-racket (CMCSR) in to a simple case of private money lending with high rate of interest.
“When CMCSR was unearthed in Vijayawada city under the very nose of chief minister Naidu, he had directed the officials to search for such cases all across the state. The state-wide raids are an indication to dilute the case and meant to state that the Call Money issue is there everywhere,” Jagan said in an press conference.
Jagan is peeved because he wanted something and what happened in winter session was different. Instead of his “CMCSR”, it was party’s MLA Roja who dominated the scene, which culminated in the no-confidence motion against speaker. He wanted to nail CM Naidu, but speaker became the target. He wanted the call money controversy to become a big sex-scandal that would shake the nation, but it failed to generate a mass revolt in the state. Naidu gained upper hand at every stage using state apparatus at his command.
The government successfully closed Call Money issue with a statement by chief minister which dealt with the raids and cases booked against the money lenders with political connections. Though Jagan made a serious attempt to hijack the House towards Call Money racket debate, the attempt was fizzled out by intemperate and un-parliamentary language his MLA Roja used against TDP MLA Anita, which led to the suspension of the former for one year. Nobody exactly knew the language Roja used until social media/news websites carried the video footage containing abusive language Roja used.
Caught unawares, Jagan appears to have decided to hasten the submission of no-confidence motion today itself so that he could divert the people’s attention from Roja’s language against Anita. It was Roja’s episode that forced Jagan to take adventurist step of boycotting the House for remaining part of the session. But he missed many things. Jagan did have many weapons in his armory to attack the government. It’s no use in lamenting on spilled milk now.
1. Five Bills have been passed without any debate.
2. The Private Universities bill, which the party says now it is opposed also got the nod of the house.
3. CM Naidu clarified his stand on Bauxite without any resistance.
In today’s press conference, held after submitting the no-confidence motion, Jagan cried foul over the closing the house in five days ignoring the demand for 15 days. He deplored that an unscheduled debate on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was used to delay the debate on CMCSR.
Speaker Kodela instead of allowing the debate on CMCSR , allowed the CM to make his statement which ended in a couple of clarifications. He said Roja’s suspension for one year was unprecedented and she was suspended only to gag her voice. He accused the speaker of allowing Jagan and Roja bashing after the opposition party boycotted the House. ” This is the worst government in the country. It is mired in corruption through Land mafia, liquor mafia, sand mafia and sex racket mafia. We are fed up with this mis-governance,” Jagan said. Now we have to wait and watch the movements of Jagan with regard to these issues.
