Everything will be fine as long as thing are moving smooth. But in case something goes wrong, all the differences and factions suddenly surface. The same thing is happening in Indian cricket team now. Within 2 days after Team India eliminated from the ICC World Cup, suddenly dressing room rifts are coming out. It is known news that India lost semi-finals with 18 runs against New Zealand on 11th July. While there are debates about India losing in semi-finals, the reports about differences between Kohli group and Rohit Sarma group, differences between the team and coaches Ravi Shastri and Bharat Arun and the perception that selectors are biased, is causing lot of concern among cricket fans.
Report about Kohli group vs Rohit Sharma group:
It is known thing that these two players played crucial role in getting Indian team till semis. But unfortunately, both failed in semis and that is one of the main reasons for Team India’s exit from the tourney. Now reports are coming in national media that, there are two factions in the team, one supporting captain Kohli and the other group supporting Rohit Sharma. But nonetheless, the report says, the team is united and no other differences other than this Kohli vs Rohit group.
About bias in selectors:
The report also states that there is bias in selection of players and those who are in good books of Kohli or those who are performing consistently, like Rohit and Jasprit Bumrah, will get a chance of playing in the team. It also says that KL Rahul was selected despite his non-performance because he was recommended strongly by the team management. The same report also says, another player Ambati rayudu didn’t get selected because of the same reason i.e. he is not in good books of Kohli and has no backing by team management.
About team not happy with coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharat Arun:
There is also another report that team is unhappy with coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharat Arun and team wants both of them to go. It is known news that before Ravi Shastri, Kumble was the coach but he had to leave his post only because of his poor relation with Kohli. Now after team’s loss in Semi-finals, there is wide debate about what went wrong and what are thongs to be improved, the team wants to put blame on coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharat Arun.
We will have to wait and see how Team India will come out of this lean phase and wins the support of cricket fans of the country.
