Reliance Jio is all set to ink a deal with Disney Plus Hotstar and the merging process is in the final stages. Disney Plus Hotstar has kept all the new deals on hold and they are not acquiring the digital deals of any films for the next 2-3 months. The merging process is expected to be completed by the end of February. Netflix too decided not to purchase new films and the new budgets will be allocated in 2024. They also have their chart of releases for their first quarter. Amazon Prime is selective after they invested huge on Indian films.
Aha and ETV Win are restricted to small films. Hence, the digital rights of films like Eagle, Naa Saami Ranga and other releases are unsold. For now, it would be tough for the deals to be closed in the coming days. The digital market will open back after March 2024 considering the deals and the budgets. It would be tough for the upcoming releases to sell off the non-theatrical rights for high prices. If they are sold in the past, they would get a comfortable theatrical release. Else, the producer have to take all the risk.
