In a show of strength, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday night led a massive road show in the MIM’s stronghold in Old City of Hyderabad.
He was accompanied with AICC Minorities Department Chairman Khursheed Ahmed Sayeed, TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, AICC Secretary R.C. Khuntia and other senior leaders.
Addressing the road show, Digvijay Singh said that the MIM was not serious on the development of Muslim community and its leaders were completely focused on individual growth. “MIM leaders have aligned with the communal forces like BJP, Shiv Sena and other outfits of Sangh Parivar. MIM contested on 17 seats in Maharashtra Assembly elections while they contested on less number of seats in Hyderabad where they are headquartered. Their entry was aimed at division of Muslim votes and they directly benefitted the BJP and Shiv Sena. Their attempts to divide secular votes were foiled by the people of Bihar. Similarly, people of Hyderabad, especially Old City, should reject MIM so as to defeat communal forces,” he said.
Digvijay Singh said that MIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi grew stronger with the help of Muslim votes. But they never cared about the development of Muslim community. He said that the Congress party nourished MIM by mistaking it to be a secular party. However, he announced that the Congress would never ally with MIM in future.
The AICC leader also slammed Telangana Chief Minister and TRS Chief K. Chandrashekar Rao and dubbed him as ‘Mini Modi’. He said KCR did not fulfil any of the promises that he made during General Elections in 2014. He also targeted Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and said he has become a part of Sangh Parivar by joining the NDA Government at the Centre. He said only Congress party was capable of fighting with the communal forces in the country. He appealed to the people of Old City to ensure victory of all Congress candidates in the GHMC elections. He claimed that the Congress party’s entry into the Old City has sent shockwaves for MIM and now it is contesting elections not to win, but to defeat Congress candidates.
Earlier, the rally passed through Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Engine Bowli, Aliabad, Lal Darwaza, Shalibanda, Mecca Masjid, Lad Bazar, Moti Galli and culminated into a massive public meeting at Khilwat Grounds.
In his speech, Shabbir Ali said that the Congress party would win from a majority of seats in the Old City thus creating a history. He said the GHMC election was the right occasion for those women to take their revenge for humiliation by voting in favour of Congress candidates. He also asked MIM to clarify its stand on 12% Muslim reservation.
TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed the TRS Government for not ordering a judicial or CBI probe into the Alair encounter. He also questioned MIM’s silence on Alair encounter.
The meeting was also addressed by Jana Reddy, Khursheed Ahmed Sayeed, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, GHCC Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, GHCC General Secretary Syed Nizamuddin and other senior leaders. Congress candidates including Mohammed Ghouse (Puranapul), Mohd Sohail (Shalibanda), Parveen Sultana (Ghansi Bazar), Sultan Mirza (Jangammet), Sajid Shareef (Dabeerpura), Moosa Qasim (Pathergatti), Mohammed Abdul Irfan (Lalithabagh) and other candidates were also present.
