Congress is gearing up for Warangal Lok Sabha constituency by-elections. AICC general secretary, in charge of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, is coming to city on October 19 to discuss the strategy for election and launching of the campaign. The party is planning to invite AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi to address a meeting in Warangal during the run up to the elections. Digvijay is going to address a party workers meeting in Nandana gardens in afternoon. Later, He will have a closed-door meeting with senior leaders of the party on the selection of the candidate. TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy called upon the party workers to attend the meeting in a big way as the party is deciding upon the campaign strategy.
Congress is serious of wresting the seat from TRS. While Left parties have decided to field noted academic Professor Gali Vinod Kumar, Congress is still struggling to finalize the name of candidate with too many aspirants vying for the ticket. Even though all opposition parties are trying to cash in on the anti-incumbency generated in recent times by the unpopular decisions taken and rolled back by the chief minister K Chadrasekhar Rao, the multi-corner contest might work in favor of TRS. Because, Left wings’ efforts to field a single opposition candidate against TRS nominee could not take off as all major opposition parties are confident of winning the election on their own. A contest among TRS, Congress, TDP&BJP, and Left appears to be certain in Warangal, whose election is necessitated by the resignation of Kadiyam Srihaari Srihari resigned from Lok Sabha as he had to replace Tadi Rajaiah in the cabinet as deputy chief minister.
