Dil Raju is one of the most successful producers in contemporary Telugu cinema. His success ratio is pretty high and he takes immense pride in the amount of work he puts in to ensure this. However, even he is not immune to the odd flop and Naga Chaitanya’s 2009 debut film ‘Josh’ is one of his biggest failures.
While speaking to the media today about his methods and formulas, Dil Raju opened up about ‘Josh’. He said that he made a very costly mistake that he still rues to this day. “Josh has college fights, college elections and student unions as the backdrop. We overlooked the basic fact that in the current generation, these things do not exist. They existed when I was studying. Obviously, youth could not connect to the film”, he said. He also added that the high expectations on the project were also a reason for the failure.
Dil Raju went on to say that Vasu Varma is a good director despite the debacle of ‘Josh’. “Vasu Varma has been with me for some of my biggest hits like Bommarillu and Dil. I know what he is capable of and that is why I gave him Krishnashtami. He lived up to my expectations”, he said.
Krishnashtami is getting ready for a release this Friday.
