Comparisons are being drawn as to why TDP Rajya Sabha MP Sujana Chowdary is opposing raids on his property while welcoming CBI probe into Jaganmohan Reddy’s illegal assets cases. As a section of media is highlighting this, Sujana came before the reporters and explained the difference between his case and that of Jagan. He asserted Jagan was involved in unforeseen corruption that eventually led to CBI and Enforcement Directorate taking irreversible action.
Stating that ED levelled baseless allegations against him, Sujana said he had never defaulted a loan in any bank during his long business career. After joining politics in 2009, he had dissociated from all the companies and resigned from special director’s post since then. He deplored that all these allegations were being raised against him after he had joined the Telugu Desam Party and such controversies never cropped up before.
In the present ED raids, there was no bank that had given complaints to ED officials against him personally. One company faced such complaint and in that he had no role any longer as the company belongs to one of his friends. Sujana said he already took up the matter with ED officials and they had admitted to the mistake they committed in announcing fraud in his companies. The TDP MP wondered how ED could officially announce irregularities of Rs. 5,700 crore in his companies by looking into some documents in just a day’s time.
Sujana Chowdary asserted there was nothing to hide as regards his financial activities and the values of so-called companies that ED spoke of were far greater than the loans taken by them. SAIL and Vizag Steel Plant are running in losses but would ED officials declared them as bankrupt, he asked.
