Finally, the questioning of Dr. Pothineni Ramesh Babu, Managing Director of Dr. Ramesh Hospitals, began at the Suryaraopet police station in Vijayawada.
Incidentally, the doctor’s questioning began on the same day that the AP Assembly session started in Amaravati Capital City.
Dr. Ramesh has been one of the accused in the Swarna Palace fire case. The fire at the Covid Centre that was run by Dr. Ramesh Hospitals there witnessed the death of 10 patients and injuries to over 20 others. The tragedy created a sensation all over the country at that time.
Amid mutual allegations, the Government and the police accused the hospital management of not taking the required permissions to run the Covid Centre in the congested Swarna Palace Hotel. Moreover, the required fire and other safety measures were also allegedly not taken.
Dr. Ramesh maintained that they ran the Covid Centre only after taking all the prior approvals from the district officials. Whatever, the police filed the case against the doctor based on the complaint given by the relatives of the deceased patients.
