Chandrababu Naidu is facing severe backlash from youth of Andhra Pradesh for denying permission to conduct silent protests at RK beach demanding Special Category Status. Several youngsters even claimed that they would not vote for TDP as this incident will not be forgotten easily.
Unemployment is a big problem for both the states, though new companies are coming up, the telangana unemployed youth are actively seeking for government jobs. Although KCR always used the solgan of Neelu Nidhulu Niyamakalu, in the assembly session he clearly said that there are not many government jobs. This of course did not go well with students and TJAC. Professor Kodandaram called for a silent protest ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ on Feb22 and the preparations are on full swing. Students and the unemployed youth are preparing for a large-scale protest .The police denied permission for the rally, however the professor approached the high court seeking permission.
The court’s decision is awaited. However, the big question is will KCR grant permission. If he does, the flaws of his government will be out in open. The rally will show the seriousness of the unemployment problem. If he denies the permission, he is under the influence of his counterpart Chandrababu, whose strategy is repressive rule.
This is similar to the situation that Andhra Pradesh encountered on January 26, where the youth wanted to conduct a silent protest. There were no volunteers to take the ownership of the SCS demonstration. However, police were deployed heavily at RK beach and section 144 of Cr PC was imposed in the city of Vishakhapatnam. In Telangana, TJAC is organizing the event and Kodandaram has immense experience in conducting such protests. Hyderabad is a metropolitan city and if KCR denies permission and imposes 144section in Hyderabad, it would hardly take few minutes for the news to spread like wildfire.
Pawan Kalyan even released songs a day before the protest which hardly had any impact on the youth. However, TJAC has already come out with a song for the unemployed youth. Unlike the previous protests, TJAC is now disseminating the information online, like the SCS protests which started on social media.
In Vishakapatnam students changed the venue and were lathi charged. It is still fresh in memories of Telangana people, how Kondandram and elites of TJAC were hiding in houses near the location and suddenly came out in remonstration at Indira Park sending shock waves to the government and the police.
KCR will not give limelight to any other leader like Chandrababu. Jagan staged a dharna on the airport runway which got attention from the national media. KCR who is caught between a rock and a hard place, might grant the permission for peaceful protest.
