Dharmapuri Srinivas, former Congress leader, who recently switched sides to Telangana Rashstra Samiti has been assigned a strange job in Telangana government. KCR government has appointed him as Special Advisor to the Government for Inter State affairs in the rank of a Cabinet Minister initially for a period of one year.
The post is as strange as the secretary-general of the party in New Delhi. By this post, even though it holds a cabinet rank in the government, Dharmapuri Srinivas will become politically voiceless . He will have no role in the either in party affairs or in governmental affairs in the state. Normally, a non-official functionary doesn’t carry much weight with regard to the inter-state affairs.
political circles feel, KCR wisely removed him from the scene. Now onwards, DS will bee seen or heard nowhere like the secretary-general of the party K Kesavarao and special representative in New Delhi S Venungopala Chary.
Kesavarao, though holds high-sounding title “Secretary General”, has no authority to talk on any subject. After appoinment as SG, he disappeared from the public radar. Similarly, with this appointment, DS also will be relegated to background, is the talk among the political circles. In the interstate affairs of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh figures prominently. Would Telugu Desam party attach any significance to his position?
Another state with which Telangana has inter-state problems is Karnataka. Will Congress government in Karnataka respect a person who defected from and ditched Congress and joined TRS?
DS should start learning, like his predecessor Kesavarao, to content with what is given by KCR.
