Special teams of the Enforcement Directorate consisting of 11 members began raids on houses and properties of Congress Telangana Working President Revanth Reddy in Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad and at his native Kodangal town in Vikarabad district from Thursday morning.
The raids were started on a day when Revanth Reddy was all set to begin his campaign for the coming assembly elections in the State. He just returned from a visit to Tirumala Hills.
The ED entered the scene of investigation after the Telangana ACB sleuths transferred the sensational Vote for Note case in which Revanth Reddy was accused of offering Rs. 1 cr cash to nominated MLA Stephenson to extend his hidden support to TDP in 2015 MLC elections there.
At that time, Rs. 50 lakh was seized on the spot while the investigation officials were stated to have found that another Rs. 50 lakh already changed hands. This is under thorough investigation of ED now. Mr. Revanth Reddy has been indicating that the BJP-led Central government and the ruling TRS were hell bent on harassing him by targetting his real estate activities.
Congress Telangana President Uthamkumar Reddy described the ED raids as another instance of misuse of power to politically harass the rival parties’ leaders. He said that the people were watching everything and they would teach a befitting lesson to the TRS and BJP leaders in the elections.
Mr. Revanth Reddy was also facing allegations of irregularities with regard to the Jubilee hills Housing Society properties. Today’s raids were also conducted on houses of some of his relatives as well.
