Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy cleared air on Musi, clarifying Government has just called for preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) with an outlay of Rs 141 Cr, for Musi River rejuvenation and trashed Opposition allegations of planning to spend Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
Addressing a two-hour-long press conference in Secretariat on Thursday, Revanth Reddy made efforts to clear widespread misconceptions and confusion prevailing over Musi Riverfront Development Project. In the process he launched a tirade against BRS top leaders KCR, KTR and Harish Rao.
“Congress Government is striving to provide a new life to people living on the banks of Musi river and people in Nalgonda district, where Musi is flowing. But BRS is spewing venom on us by spreading misinformation and fake propaganda. Is it a crime to clean Musi? Is it a crime to free people living on the banks of Musi from extremely poor living conditions? Is it a crime to save Nalgonda farmers and people from Musi pollution?” questioned CM Revanth Reddy making an emotional appeal.
“We have been acting with utmost caution regarding Musi rejuvenation works. We have vacated just 200 families from Musi area and offered them double bedroom houses. They have also been paid Rs 25000 each for moving. This was done only after discussing and convincing them. They are all happy. But Opposition BRS is trying to create unrest by publicizing that HYDRA is demolishing poor people’s houses for Musi beautification. This is pure fake propaganda. There is more sewage in KTR’s mind than Musi,” further said Revanth Reddy, coming down heavily on Opposition over Musi issue.
Revanth Reddy reminded how KCR Govt unleashed terror on farmers and local people, during its tenure for acquiring land for irrigation projects like Mallanna Sagar, stressing that Congress Govt instead has been adopting a humane and consultative process to relocate people for Musi rejuvenation.
“BRS leaders KTR and Harish Rao have been unable to digest that we have taken up Musi rejuvenation. They are spreading false information that Government is spending Rs 1.5 lakh crore, which is completely wrong. We are yet to prepare DPR. For that we have given DPR contract to a consortium consisting of reputed international organisations like Meinhardt, Cushman and Wakefield. The cost of DPR is Rs 141 Cr for six years period,” explained CM Revanth Reddy, as several doubts are being raised on Musi Riverfront Development project and Opposition has been launching a scathing attack on the Congress Government in this issue.
An emotional Revanth Reddy also clarified that Government is working for Musi ‘rejuvenation’ which will not just clean river but create livelihood and economic growth opportunities and not ‘beautifucation’.
