Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Killi Kruparani is actively changing party loyalties. Rumours are rife in political circles that she will meet Jaganmohan Reddy in a day or two. Kruparani’s husband Rammohan Rao is Srikakulam District Congress Committee president. He has already held negotiations with the YCP leaders for their family entry into the party.
For a long time now, Kruparani is not active in Congress party politics in the state. This is despite the fact she is made in charge of the Congress campaign in the next elections. Her political family is not confident of the Congress party making a comeback any time soon in AP. The party is still struggling to retain its leaders in the face of significant gains being made by regional parties like the TDP, YCP and Jana Sena party.
Kruparani won from Srikakulam parliamentary segment in the past and served as the Union IT Minister in the UPA government. Her family dominated the Srikakulam Congress politics at that time. In recent months, she has been considering which party to join and her family has decided upon YCP considering the chances for contesting elections in future. Her role in YCP will be decided after the meeting with Jagan goes as per their expectations.
