Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to enter the North East. All Exit polls predicted clear victory for the saffron party in Assam. Assam is important state for both Congress and BJP. Because, the result would change political complexion of the region. Change is already set in motion during Lok Sabha polls in 2014. The exit polls show that the ruling party could not contain the saffron surge in Assam.
As for other states, in a setback to Left Front, the Trinamool is expected to stage a comeback in West Bengal, while Kerala is to see a change in the government with the Left Democratic Front showing clear lead. In Tamil Nadu as per the India Today-Axis poll DMK is in the lead, with Amma trailing. In all states, Congress is the clear loser. The counting of votes is scheduled on May 19.
According to India Today-Axis and India TV C Voter, in Kerala CPM-led LDF is set for a big win with a range of 88-101 seats and 74-82 seats, respectively where the magic figure is just 71.
In Assam, BJP cleared the half-way mark in polls released by ABP-Nielsen, News X-Chanakya and India Today-Axis with 81 seats, 90 seats and a range of 79 to 93 seats respectively. India TV-C Voter gave the party 57 seats. The half-way mark in the state assembly is 64.
The TMC is expected to retain power in West Bengal as per the ABP-Nielsen, News X-Chanakya, India TV-C Voter and India Today-Axis which gave 178 , 210 seats, 167 seats and a range of 233 to 253 seats for the party led by Mamata Banerjee.
The grand alliance floated by Left and Congress lagged way behind with 110 seats in the ABP-Nielsen poll, 70 in News X-Chanakya, 120 in India TV-C Voter and 38 to 51 seats India Today-Axis exit polls. The halfway mark in the state is 147.
