The newly-launched currency notes of Rs 2,000 seemed to have failed to win the hearts of the people in the country. Although the new ones, which have been introduced by the Reserve Bank of India, safeguards with security series than the banned notes, reports on counterfeit currency note of Rs 2,000 pink note is causing trouble to the officials and the police.
The new alleged fake pink notes has been going viral in social media. However, the police ruled it out saying that some people are deliberately floating rumours by making colour xerox of the Rs 2,000 pink note. One incident was reported in Chikmagalur in Karnataka. A man was duped by some unidentified person with two fake notes of Rs 2,000 near Agriculture Marketing Yard in the town.
“I am in no mood to accept the new currency notes, which are considerably small in size compared to the previous notes,” said Datta Reddy, who exchanged the old notes at a bank in Ameerpet. “It might take some time for the people to accept it, pink doesn’t suit to currency note,” chuckled a retired employee Radhakrishna.
Besides chaos prevailing in exchanging notes, prices of essential commodities rose steeply in the market.
