Siricilla MLA KT Rama Rao after facing a lot of criticism from Congress following KCR’s attempt to protect his son, finally visited the victims of Nerella incident on Tuesday. The Minister termed the entire incident as “unfortunate” and said that the State government has ordered a probe by a DIG-level officer for the high-handedness of police.
The tortured victims are undergoing treatment at Vemulawada temple town. KTR interacted with all the victims and assured to provide better medical treatment by shifting them to Hyderabad.
He said that the police maintained an indifferent attitude and registered cases against all the villagers irrespective of the communities they belong to including dalits, tribals and BCs. He rubbished the rumour of sand mafia and came down heavily on opposition parties. He said that opposition Congress giving away compensation to the victims is merely tactic to seek votes in the upcoming assembly elections. He iterated that sand-mining has generated a lot of revenue in the last three years.
Meanwhile, Congress knock the doors of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) which assured to appoint a team to submit report on Nerella incident.
Also a Public interest litigation has been filed in the Hyderabad High Court demanding a CBI enquiry or a SIT investigation into the atrocities against eight Dalits in Siricilla.
