Hyderabad: In what could be termed as an interesting development in both the Telugu states, a former Telangana MLA is contesting in Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Yes, you read it correct. Sunnam Rajaiah, former MLA from Bhadrachalam Assembly constituency, is contesting on CPM ticket from Rampachodavaram Assembly constituency in East Godavari district.
Rampachodavaram Assembly constituency has become a platform for this interesting contest as former Bhadrachalam MLA is contesting here. Other contestants are Vantala Rajeshwari, who earlier won on YSRCP ticket and joined TDP, on ruling party ticket, Nagulapalli Dhanalaxmi on YSRCP ticket, and Sunnam Rajaiah on CPM ticket are contesting in Rampachodavaram constituency.
Despite several other candidates from different parties are in fray, main competition is among these three candidates only. Rajeshwari is putting in efforts to win once again, while Dnanalaxmi is working to make a debut as MLA in Andhra Pradesh Assembly. On the other hand, Rajaiah, who won three times as MLA, is confident of victory as he’s banking on his track record.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopalakrishna Dwivedi has released election notification for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly constituencies in AP. The CEO AP has further directed all the Collectors to notify the election schedule in all the districts, while alerting returning officers to be ready for receiving nominations.
YSRCP has already announced candidates for all the seats in AP, while TDP is yet to finalise 25 Assembly candidates. Congress so far has not announced any list. Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 11 in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
