Gautami putra Satakarni audio review
Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni had its audio launch on December 26 in a grand style amidst much fanfare and elaborate arrangements. The film, which glorifies the greatness of Satavahana ruler Satakarni, is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and the music score is rendered by Bollywood composer Chirantan Bhatt. The album consists of 5 songs. Here is the detailed analysis of the album.
Song 1 : Ekimeda
Singer : Udit Narayanan, Shreya Ghosal
Lyrics : Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry
The albums starts with a tantalizing folksy melody which is beautifully sung by Udit Narayanan and Shreya Ghosal. The catchy lyrics, which express the unflinching love between the lead pair, have been backed with a disciplined composition. The chorus did a wonderful job to keep the listener hooked and Chirantan has produced a foot tapping tune with timely deviations in the rhythm. An instant hit song in the album.
Song 2 : Gana Gana Gana
Singer : Simha, Anand Bhaskar
Lyrics : Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry
The next one in the album is an aggressive number which is sung with high-pitched vocals by Simha and Anand Bhaskar. The lyrics narrate the preparedness of soldiers to get into the battlefield and fight for glory. The composition is replete with passionate percussions and fast paced trumpet beats. As this is a situational song, it might create more impact with the on-screen visuals.
Song 3 : Mruga Nayana
Singer : SP Balasubramanyam, Shreya Ghosal
Lyrics : Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry
Moving on to the next song, we come across an eerily-tuned romantic number which is sung soulfully by Balasubramanyam and Shreya Ghosal. Chirantan has used ethnic drums and synthesized sounds to produce the desired effect for this song. The lyrics are a little complex yet meaningful and the subtle variations in the mood of the song are evident throughout. This is not that kind of song that draws the listener instantly, but will grow on with repeats.
Song 4 : Saaho Saarvabowma
Singer : Vijay Prakash, Keerthi Sagatiya
Lyrics : Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry
The penultimate song in the album is a hair-raising war cry song that is sung with energetic vocals by Vijay Prakash. What makes this song a standout one in the album are the motivating chants and the superlative lyrics that lifts the mood of the listener instantly. The captivating crescendo and the impressive rendition makes this song the best one of the album. A Chartbuster written all over it.
Song 5 : Singhamupai Langhinchenu
Singer : Vijay Prakash
Lyrics : Sai Madhav
The album ends on an interesting note with a narrative song – a type of a Burra Katha song – which takes us back to the earliest Indian tradition. The song, penned by writer Sai Madhav Burra, involves narrating and singing parts which deal with the events that have great prominence in Gautamiputra Satakarni’s life history. Once again Vijay Prakash does complete justice and the lyrics carry the complete essence of the history. Chirantan did a decent job with his novel composition.
Final Verdict :
All in all, Gautamiputra Satakarni is an appealing album which is sprinkled with novel tunes given by Chirantan Bhatt and superlative lyrics penned by Seetharama Sastry. It has got all the ingredients required for a historical film – like a fascinating folksy number, a goosebump-giving war song and a surprising Burra Katha type song. Saaho Saarvabowma and Ekimeda are the best songs in the album and will easily top the charts in the coming days.
