TRS government today issued orders with regard to another GHMC poll sop to the people of Hyderabad.In less than 24 hours after it gave green signal to the Rs 1900 water supply project to Hyderabad, government today exempted many residents from paying property tax to the Greater Hyderabad Muncipal Corporation.
Government issued orders amending the subsection (1) of Section 202 (A), of GHMC Act 1955 for the exemption of Property Tax of any residential building occupied by the owner, Where the Annual Rental Value doesn’t exceed Rs 4,100, which is equal to Rs 1,200 property tax per annum. However, this is subject to the condition that the beneficiaries of exemption have to pay Rs 101 per year towards the property tax. The orders will come into force immediately. On Sunday chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao defended announcing sops to the people during poll times. He said there was nothing wrong if the party in power wants to use it position for the strengthening of the organization. ” TRS is not Ahobhil Muth, it’s a political party,which wants to make use of every occasion,” he said. According to sources in the government, the mover is expected to benefit as many as 5,05,171 properties. And the GHMC is set to lose about Rs 21.11 cr per year. The assessed arrears for these properties stand at Rs 56.52 crore.
