Ranganath’s mortal remains were kept for his well wishers and public at MAA office before he was taken to the crematorium. The film industry yesterday paid their respect and tribute to the doyen who worked more than 300 films. His colleague Giribabu who knew him for 40 years said they started their careers with just a year of difference and they would be in touch and even recently they spoke. He adds, “He was depressed after the loss of his wife. I had asked him to go stay with his son or daughter, but he stayed alone. That loneliness made him take this decision. After he lost his wife, the children should have stayed with him. And he was not caught in some financial mess either. He was well settled. Even though he hardly did films, he was busy with serials and was also acting in a few commercials. His financial status was good.”.
