Telugu states common Governor E S L Narasimhan though failed to resolve any specific problem between two states, during his first ever initiative of making the representatives of both sides to sit together, succeeded in getting their consent to continue dialogue.
Three-man committees from both the states, who met at Raj Bhavan in his presence, yesterday have agreed to find amicable solutions through dialogue, instead of engaging in legal battles. More importantly, it was also decided to wage a joint struggle to get deserved share in Krishna River.
Both states agreed to send their issues to the governor’s office for it to prepare the agenda for the next meeting scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on February 9. The meeting was convened by the Governor to facilitate discussions between the representatives of both the States on issues pertaining to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
While Telangana Government was represented by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao, Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy and Advisor to TS Government on inter-state affairs G. Vivek, the Andhra Pradesh State was represented by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Labour Minister Acham Naidu, and Govt. Chief Whip K. Srinivasulu. Senior officials of both the States were also present in the meeting.
Later, Harish Rao said that several issues including bifurcation of institutions under 9th and 10th Schedule, employees and High Court came up for discussion during the meeting. He said the relevant details would be furnished to the Governor soon. “We have decided to resolve the matters in a cordial manner and decided to protect the interests of the both the states,” he added
“A lot of issues are pending. TS has some issues and AP has some. Both the states have decided to resolve them amicably,” AP finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said, adding that the third meeting will be held in Amaravati.
Vivek admitted that they cannot resolve all issues in a single meeting. Once the agenda is ready, he is hopeful to resolve two to three issues in each meeting.
